Lynx demonstrates a working OADM network model featuring the new Lynx Photon.NET/DR subsystems at SUPERCOMM

ATLANTA -- Lynx Photonic Networks (www.LynxPN.com), the leading developer of next-generation intelligent photonic communications switching subsystems based on planar lightwave circuit (PLC) technology, will be demonstrating a working OADM network model featuring the new Lynx Photon.NET/DR subsystems at SUPERCOMM, in Atlanta, June 4-6. Lynx will be located at booth #12051.

To demonstrate what telecommunications systems vendors can accomplish utilizing Lynx's integrated subsystems, the company has created a complete three-ring optical network model. The model is comprised of OADM optical elements based on Photon.NET subsystems, together with appropriate video sources and monitors to facilitate live traffic over 15 miles of fiber between each node. Visitors to the Lynx booth will see transparent, strictly non-blocking photonic switching, with fully controllable energy management (through variable optical attenuation).

The SUPERCOMM demonstration will support 20 wavelengths in a DWDM network, of which any 8 can be added or dropped to any port with any service at any time. Configurations may be selected that serve between 4 and 40 WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) separate wavelengths or, alternatively, separate fibers for metro applications. For long haul applications, "band switching" can be facilitated through small port subsystems that service a large number of wavelengths (for instance, 8 bands of 20 wavelengths each for a total of 160 wavelengths per port
