LogLogic Announces New Features
"These days, the concept of using automated log data management for security seems pretty obvious. Extending that principle to anomaly detection and root cause correlation for performance is a bit subtler and more original. LogLogic has strong investors, a coherent product strategy and an interesting story to tell." Quote from Industry Research Group, The 451, (www.the451group.com)

LOGLOGIC ANNOUNCES NEW FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY
TO ITS LOG MANAGEMENT APPLIANCES
LogLogic Adds Domain Virtualization Technology and VPN Features to Deliver Security, Compliance and Availability to Enterprise Networks
Sunnyvale, Calif. – February 8, 2005– LogLogic, Inc. (www.loglogic.com) today announced the availability of its next-generation log management appliances. The product release includes new features purpose-built for resolving network security, availability and compliance issues, including: rate-based anomaly detection, root-cause correlation, domain virtualization technology and support for virtual private network (VPN) log analysis. Global 2000 IT departments that have previously relied on homegrown scripts to mine log data now have a solution that provides an end-to end, high-performance log data management architecture.
“Today, there is a need for new log management products that offer higher performance, more automated and simpler solutions to assist with security, availability and compliance issues in the data center,” s aid Paul Proctor, vice president, Security & Risk Strategies, at META Group.
Better security through increased network visibility
System administrators now have a solution to quickly scale log data management and increase network visibility. A new feature, called “domain virtualization technology,” allows ad-hoc analysis on any log source or group of sources, regardless of the physical location. With this advanced log data visibility, IT professionals can achieve enhanced security, through the ability to quickly process all network log data and immediately retrieve ad-hoc reports on that log data in seconds. Included with domain virtualization is the ability to define granular access rights and privileges, making the LogLogic solution particularly suitable for large, distributed enterprises and managed service providers.
Faster solution to ensure a highly available network
The addition of support for VPN log analysis enhances the LogLogic appliances’ ability to prevent costly network downtime through VPN specific anomaly alerting, root-cause and trend analysis. With these additions, LogLogic continues to provide real-time and historical analysis capabilities that current generations of security-event oriented tools cannot address.
“We recently switched to the LogLogic solution from a previous generation of a security management tools to optimize overall IT productivity and, more importantly, to guard data center availability and compliance,” said Ron Mullins, lead network administrator at NetJets Inc. “LogLogic delivers the highest performing log management solution in the industry: it reliably aggregates high volumes of log data and offers fast search and drill-down capabilities. Their appliance is critical for real-time troubleshooting: for example, when a critical application cannot connect through our VPN, every second counts.”
Smarter solution for control and compliance
Added intelligence in LogLogic’s high-performance appliance architecture enables IT departments to utilize new unique rate-based anomaly detection and root-cause correlation features. All log messages are processed in real time, and device-specific alerts warn administrators of rate-based, policy-based or message-code anomalies. Built-in graphical trend and policy reports allow IT departments to quickly drill down to find specific data to isolate and resolve network problems and assist with network utilization and compliance audits.
“With this new release of the enhanced LX and ST appliances, we continue on our mission of being the industry’s only high-performance end-to-end log management solution.” said Christopher Brennan, president and chief executive officer at LogLogic. “Our appliances are specifically architected to give IT organizations a better, faster and smarter solution to manage their log data while saving their businesses from costly downtime and making their IT organizations more productive.”
