Omnipoint was a GSM-based cellular service provider. Omnipoint developed a new low-cost technology for PCS and was awarded a 30-Mhz Pioneer Preference PCS license for the New York area. The company used its hybrid CDMA/TDMA proprietary technology with a GSM overlay to provide superior wireless services including voice, data transmission and paging.
